Victoria CC 10.2 & Redbridge CC 25

Over the river into Essex twice this weekend, starting with the Victoria CC 10.2 near Ugley (cue Ugley Essex girls jokes). This is a Spoce SE counting event, so the aim was for better than 17th place which would increase my points in the series. Quite a fun course (E1/10), a bit of up and down but some fast bits too, all on a quiet B road. Seventy-something riders in the event, a lot of whom were fairly slow; I started as number 10, and caught everybody in front of me except number 5 who punctured. Anyway, finished in 24:10 which I think was 13th, so mission accomplished.

Onto Sunday and Redbridge CC 25 on the E4/25 course, only just over the river on the A13. Started on a single carriageway which was fairly fast for the first 5 miles, then onto the A13 dual carriageway, out and back to a horrible turn which climbs up over a railway, plunges down to a roundabout then back up over the railway. Thought I was on for a sub-hour ride until I came of the DC back onto the SC and into a headwind for the last 4 miles. Finished just outside in 1:00:21.

Well done Jon, well on the road to retaining your SPOCO title. How did the bloke who punctured manage to stay ahead of you when you caught everyone else. :D
