George Brent in Hospital Following Racing Accident

A Place to idle the day away talking about anything you fancy. Expect to find cycling and non cycling topics inside

Latest update - courtesy of George's Dad:

It's early days - but the news is positive so far. George has been re-assessed and his condition is no-longer classified as an emergency (it was originally). He is reasonably comfortable, in good spirits is is allowed to sit up in bed and eat and drink.

He will require surgery as he has damaged two or three vertebrae. This is now likely to be performed tomorrow (Tuesday). He is expected to be transfered to the Atkinson Morley Hospital in Tooting (part of the St. George's NHS Trust) today. This site has specialist expertise in spinal injuries.

I'm not sure if anyone was planning to visit him. His father suggested it's probably best to wait until surgery has been performed before doing so - i.e. from Wednesday onwards.

It might be an idea printing off all these messages, put them in a card and send it to George as he might not be able to see them at the moment. I'm sure this will lift his spirits.

If anybody know what ward he might end up after the op post it on the forum and I can organise...

hi guys thanks for all your kind messages.

i have now got bedside internet, i@m feeling good no pain, i,m just in a collar which restricts movement but is holding my bust neck together till it fixes itself.

i,m in st georges hospital bed 22 of the above ward.

in good spirits just didn,t expect head on with another cyclist :o during a race, oh well just gotta get well now.

there expecting a full recovery and i can even go home later this week.

only bike damage is a broken bottle cage, the other guys bike was a write off, totally unridable

first thing i checked was the boras, beleive me they are very strong wheels :D

so if you fancie coming to see me with some jellie beans that would be great
