Sylv, you'll love it! It's such a cool way to spend a day: pedalling along getting handed goody bags and drinks from your lovely helpers, and nice marshals showing you where to turn so you don't have to worry about a thing apart from pedalling and trying to beat Mr PVT. A top day out and no mistake.

Yes. All I need is some tri-bars and an Ipod which battery lasts for twelve hours.

I also thought the best bit with long races like the 24h mtb was the food - buying and eating - prior to and during the event - no limit :)

Shouldn't this thread be in the 'Restaurant Review' section? It's basically a report on an all-day picnic. With a bike ride.

Seriously though, great reports and fantastic performances! In fact, I am so inspired that I might even, just about, with a following wind, give the tiniest contemplation to entering myself next year. All subject to a whole host of provisos of course, none of which was fulfilled this summer. They are likely to include (and I'll think of loads more, don't worry): get loads of winter miles in; shed 5-7 kilos; stay injury-free; get some miles in; don't be on a beach somewhere hot when it happens; persuade some fool to feed me all day; get some miles in.

Aren't you supposed to take on some sweet Madeira towards the end?
