ACC 100 THIS SATURDAY!!!

Postby huw williams » Thu Aug 30, 2007 10:43 am

Its on and the weather forecast is good:

In case you don't know about it - Cycling Weekly want to do a story on the increasing number of cyclists joining clubs.

Despite road rage, drug scandals at the top end, more cars than ever etc etc - bums on saddles is up up up. And no more so than in Addiscombe. So we have a photographer coming to do pictures on saturday and want over 100 members out, more if possible...

So

1. If you only do one CR this yr then this is the one to do
2. If you only wear ACC kit once this yr then wear it this Sat.
3. Help us make history by being part of the largest CR (100) by a single
club, ever in the UK
4. Free drinks & cakes so no queues @ caf
5. Excellent cycling weather is organised
6. Pro photos by Phil O'Connor (ACC member since 1985) of CW fame
7. If you have to go shopping with the Mrs, then just come along for the
photos @ CSS
8. Be at CSS for 9am pronto
9. Tell all other members that may not read this, & ask your friends, note
this is J4F Sat. also.
10. Bring cameras, Monty will be videoing
11. Even if you only do a short club run due to other rides, ACC track day in the afternoon etc - turn up for the pictures

Tell all members who don't read the forum about this momentoue event and see you all there.

After photoshoot last man to Charlwood buys all the teas... (only kidding :-), group rides as normal)

Its the best way to get people thinking about it - and there's STILL people asking "what's the ACC 100 all about?"

There's gonna be a few people in CSS who know all about it come saturday - the provisional plan is that the entire group rides a couple of laps of the bypass loop while the photographer stands on the footbridge overhead

so:

CSS to the mini roundabout just up the hill

Right turn - along the bypass to the junction at the bottom

Left turn, past Regalinos, past CSS and do another lap, and possibly a third to make sure.

Members will be politely reminded that this NOT a road crit and there will be a lot of non-racer types out so NO sprinting for the lights/road signs and NO attacking up the hill past the station

Personally I think it would make an awesome crit circuit if we could get the roads closed some time in the future :-) :-) :-)
