In light of recent fine ECCA efforts — what is the 12-hour record then?

Considerably more than we managed to do. :(

Women's is 237 miles (I think), set by Chris Watts and I believe was a national record at the time.

I'm not sure of the distance for the men's but think it was Eddie Mundy's.

The men's 12hr record is 262.5 miles by J(ohn?) Withey.

I was on schedule for about 260 miles on my computer until I broke my wheels. The one good point of that was I didn't have to worry about trying to get an extra 2.5 miles over the last 3 hours.

We used to have some quick riders - these rides were all done pre aero bars, disc wheels, deep rims etc

10 miles Juvenile (U16) stephen Martin 21:40
10 miles Junior Stephen Martin 21:30
25 miles Junior James Wright 55:02

You'll have to go some.....

The records were on "quick" courses - I think Stephen's 10 was on the Q10/2 which was a quick dual carriageway course, starting at Dartford Heath, dropping down onto the A2, past the M25 junction (that wasn't even built then)up to Bluewater turnoff (that neither), over the top (2 right hand turns - no roundabouts) and back down the A2 coming off to finish opposite the start.
I always mention to Ruth when we drive to Bluewater, that I used to race on that road, but conditions were so different then.

The 25 (I think) used the Southend road - the A13, but remember their times were pre aero bars, disc wheels heart rate monitors computers etc

I don't know what they are up to now? There was also another very fast junior at that time - Mike Perry who was always a few seconds behind Stephen.
