George's Recovery

Postby George » Fri Aug 31, 2007 11:08 am

Hi guy's cheers for all the support and concern with my accident.

I'm now recovering at home with my neck brace on, no real discomfort or pain just a bit sore up around my neck.

I went to visit my Laser guy in Ipswich yesterday and he will get me on the road to recovery.

Here he is with the laser helping to fix my neck.

The good thing is I am allowed to train on my Turbo trainer, which I just by coincedence had ordered last Friday, so I don't intend to lose any fitness

Sorry I can't make the 100 clubrun tomorrow but will be on a clubrun near you soon.

George,

Good to hear you're making good progress. Already working on a new time trial position I see.

Good to hear you're on the mend. Keith & I were gonna pop round a couple of nights ago but ended up being late home and didn't want to disturb you...and then read on forum you weren't at home anyway!

Can't believe they're allowing you to turbo train with a broken neck! Have you actually explained to them how hard you will be riding??

Hope recovery goes well.

On my God, George has got a turbo. Be afraid, be very afraid!

Good to hear you're on the mend George, you'll be back on the road and ripping everyone's legs off again before long.

Don't worry I won't overdo it on the Turbo, I'll change my riding style so I have absolutley no upper body movement, nice and smooth

Keith and Tamar I'll give you a knock when I'm back in Meadvale Rd.

You need to pull your sleeve up on the right arm- your tan is a bit un-even.

Hey Mr Tok's I've got the Elite Crono Digital Wireless Fluid ElastoGel Trainer as recomended by John Lovel, had a go round his house and its very like the resistance of riding on the road.

No noise and you change resistance by changing gear 8)

Most importantly it shows wattage so I'll be able to start getting technical.

I'm really trying hard to think of a name for it, I dunno maybe Christina or Fergie

Got the cheapest price from Wiggle it.

George, turbo trainers are awful. Best thing is just to lay back and relax for a few weeks, you are looking a bit skinny so I would recommend fish and chips at least three times a week interspersed with fried Mars bars. This will help you get your fish oils and also your sugar levels will be maintained at an adequate level.

I would also recommend a healthy dose of alcohol to help numb the pain and to make sure you don't lose your smile. I would recommend to start on 4 tins of special brew and work your way up to a 6 pack, i hear a six pack is all the rage, the girls go wild apparently.

Happy training and I look forward to hearing how you progress. If you do want some tips on turbo training sessions then give me a shout.

Cheers

Marek....

All these folks trying to put George off Turbo Training. You're wasting your time the man's a cycling phenomenon and TTing ain't gonna be a problem. I'm glad you got one with wattage output George :D When you're fully recovered from your injuries and are used to riding the TT - test your self at the following durations: 1min, 5min, and 20 minutes 8)
