A plea for help with maintenance...

Postby virek » Fri Jan 02, 2004 7:46 pm

I recently got hold of an old GIANT Peleton SuperLite (too cheap to print...) but it has NASTY pedals.

Well I want to replace them but I can only shift one of them, the other WON'T budge...I'm dying to use the bike. I think I'm turning in the right direction ;-)

Can anyone help/assist me?

I'll be on the club ride tomorrow (all being well) on a Blue/White/Black Orbea, let me know. Oh, it seems that the nut for the pedal is a 16mm and I've only got a 15 and 17 spanner :-(

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Mathew,

Pedals are usually 15mm but if it is old I suppose it could be different! The asy way to ensure you are turning the spanner in the correct direction for pedal, is to fit the spanner so that is pointing up at 12 oclock aprox, now turn the spanner towards the rear of the bike.

I should be out tomorrow as well, if for some reason i dont make it out give me a call when you get back, I have quite a few tools here so I am sure I can help you.

Phil.
