Toll road is fairly steep, but a steady gradient (nice if you get your rhythm, horrible if you don't), and nicely shaded.

If they use the toll road, who will pay the toll for the am cars? If I remember correctly (the last time I rode up it was about 10 years ago), bikes were about 10p, cars have to pay a bit more.
Whichever way they go, I wouldn't be surprised if the gradient catches a few people out.
