Presidents 10

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

I would like to have another crack at the Holmwood course so can you sign me up for the Presidents 10.

Well now. Tempted as I was by the fancy dress "code", I'm afraid that for the 5th year running since joining in Oct 2002 I shall miss the President's 10 :( .

I'm afraid that I had my tea leaves read today and they foretold of dark days ahead, shopping in the mythical village known as Croydonia.

May I wish all competitors the best of luck and lo, I live in hope that one day, I will break my duck at this most momentous of racing events.

Snoop

PS - bearing in mind I had planned on riding this one in a towel and a shower cap with a loofah strapped to me cross bar maybe, just maybe, it's a good thing I'll not be there

I tried Huw but got caught trying to cut the baize off the snooker tables in Rileys for the outfit.

Not seen your name here Sean, are you having a go? Looks like it could be a good turn out and a fun morning.

ride to presidents TT

Postby Paul on the Pearson » Wed Sep 12, 2007 2:19 pm

Is anyone meeting at CSS on saturday to ride out to the Holmwood course?
If not whats the best way to get there? (A stretch limo with fully stocked cocktail bar perhaps, a bit tacky though?) directions wise?
Fancy dress? Maybe I'll dig out that white lycra Elvis jump suit!

I'm driving as I'll have 2x persons and bikes.

Most direct way is:

Follow CR to Reigate and out other side.
Go straight on where you would normally go left (Golf Course).
Follow main road all the way until you get to the big roundabout with the giant silver cock in the middle (you'll know it when you see it!).
Left at the giant cock and follow (rolls up and down a bit) to next roundabout and turn left in to Spook Hill. Start is at the far end of Spook Hill.

Anyone driving down who has room in the car?

Otherwise, what time will people be riding down?

If a group rides out the more scenic way is CR reverse out via Chipstead valley Rd (is it open yet?) and head towards Box Hill. Where you would turn right to go to BH go straight on and down that bloody steep hill, name escapes me but it's great fun. At the roundabout at the bottom turn right, you are now back on track and heading for the giant cock.

If you're riding I'd allow an hour for a steady ride out.

Simon

Hi. I'm driving down from SE25. Hope to get there in time for a warm up, let's say 9.15-9.30. Leave here about 8.30. Already got Sam and two bikes but as long as you don't mind sitting in the back and putting yours on the bike rack you're very welcome to hitch a ride.

let me know.

Jon :)

Paul

I`m driving down-could meet you at CSS if you want.

8.45 should do it.

If you are going to ride down:

Chopstead Valley Road to KIngswood.

Come out at R/A on A217. Second turnoff onto Dorking Road, down Pebblecome Hill turn rigt onto A25 towards Dorking. Left at R/A tpwards Holmwood.

Hope this helps a little.

That would be helpful Jon. You guys live in South Norwood don't you? I live in Shirley so not far away. I can meet you somwhere if it would be helpful.

BTW good call on the warm up I could use one myself.

I am sweating a bit though with the thought of Ruby on a bike rack. Maybe I will take the Trek instead.

easiest if you get to us and load the bike instead of trying to arrange a meet. 22 Birchanger Rd - opposite the school at the top of the road. Get here about 8.15.

Cheers
