Cycling on TV

Postby HuwG » Sat Jan 10, 2004 11:44 am

I know you'll look at the time/date and think he should be out on the club run, but since I mainly eat pizza and drink beer on saturdays that is not possible!
Anyway, since eating pizza and drinking beer go rather well with watching telly and I was rather frustrated last year by having only terrestrial TV I thought I'd investigate Digital/Cable/Satellite in order to get better cycling coverage this year. Turns out I can't get cable so I need satellite, I seem to remember being told previously that British Eurosport is the best to get, but would be interested in any comments recommendations on what I should get what deals are best and how I go about getting them - remember I've only ever had terrestrial so far so am a novice in this area !

Cheers, H
PS Monty, if you're reading Best Wishes for a speedy recovery, and to the guy who crashed with you.

Personally I take Sky and have the package that is one step up from the most basic. Costs me under £20 per month and includes Eurosport. I don't think the extra Sky sport channels cover cycling (I could well be wrong mind) but the above works well for me. I think you can get in touch with Sky on 0870 2404040. Beware though, the rest of the stuff Sky transmit is pretty much pants, in my opinion anyhoo.

Cheers

PS, the beer and pizza method definitely works well, tried and tested

Snoop is right, the only Cycling tends to be on Eurosport, so unless you want all the footy etc just make sure you get a package which includes Eurosport.

I have looked on the Freeview site and they don't seem to have Eurosport which I think is a bit of a shame considering it is a free channel I would have thought it would have been on there. Maybe they will have it at a later date. It is a shame because Sky is so expensive and has such a load of old rubbish on I end up watching mainly the normal channels anyway. (except when the footie is on).

Cheers

Thanks guys.

Can't get cable or I would.

Will look into Sky stuff and the Marco Analogue suggestion.

Bit confused about Eurosport Vs Brit Eurosport, can you get Eurosport on SKY ?

Cheers, Huw :D
