Haven't watched rugby for a few years, what's going on with the kit they wear now? That Welsh kit is positively indecent! Not very flattering for a prop either :lol:

When I were a lad I played a bit and you had a tough jersey with a collar. I even did a couple of years as a hooker :shock:

, how do you bind on in a scrum with skin tight jerseys, other than carefully.

Think it goes back to the last world cup where the Kiwis bought out a new skin tight jersey which was covered in baby oil. No bugger could tackle them as they had nothing to grab or they were so slippery they just went through them.

Hence the desire now for teams to wear tight jerseys, also they must be trying to increase the popular appeal to men that like men, I have heard skin tight shirts are all the rage in the clubs in Brighton.

supporters tend not to wear the skintight version, they wear a looser replica or a traditional version. Not sure about the baby oil story, but one of the reasons is so its harder to tackle/catch.

i dont mind the new type of shirts england wear, but i cant stand the colours!

it makes them look like a club team with a dirty great splodge of red going down their fronts. its not a contempery art contest its a national rugby shirt!! :evil:

the shirts from the last world cup were far better with everything sharp and in symmetry.

Don't worry if you don't like the England kit. Based on Friday's performance you won't have to look at it for much longer.

Mind you the injuries they have is a nightmare (for the boks and WC in general)

Harry Ellis- Injured (2nd best scrum half behind Peel? in the northern hemisphere)

Hipkiss- Injured

Julian White- Need more to be at his farm

But then Ashton decided to pick Jamie Noon and play him at outside, instead of Tait (who caught Habana in the tour to SA).

And personally I feel Gomarsall should play instead of Perry, and I don't think Perry is of England standard, and the Boks performance stands as evidence.

i havent been injured in rugby yett, just a few bruises, although on saturday, my kit became red, as the cuts from my crash bled again as the scab came off, tmrw got to play in some national trophy thingy

Is this for your school Mo? "National Trophy thingy", sounds very impressive (up to the "thingy" bit

). Best I managed was a colts support event at the Middlesex 7s.

Do you belong to a club? I used to play for Warlingham.

The tight kit isn't a fashion thing, it's just the passage of time. I recently unearthed my old school rugby jersey (I played mostly in the third, or 'Gentlemen's' XV :wink:

). It used to flap around like a kaftan, but now seems to fit me like a glove.

I think there probably was a time - the years between discovering beer and discovering ACC - when I wouldn't have been able to get it on at all :oops:

Not sure on the tackling low thing. I think a lot of the guys tend to try and go mid body as you are more likely to get a turnover. Just watching a lot of the tackles now and if you go in mid body you can quite often dislodge the ball. If you go in low you more than likely find that the guy has offloaded or has nicely positioned the ball for the support players.

Of course you have to way this up with not knocking the guy down at all as he can give you a whacking hand off and that is you down on the floor.

I gave up rugger just before joining ACC. I used to play in the 2nd or 3rd team for Purley John fisher which Tim Wilson plays for. He is a first team player though. I gave up after getting a whacking great hand off from going in too high, I broke my finger and when I went to the showers I had a hand print mark on my chest, in fact it was on my tit, and I did feel like one. The wife was also getting fed up with me coming home and whinging for the whole week that my body ached, think she was really happy I took up cycling, NOT.

low is the way to go, though high tackles are handy (if a guy is annoying u), but mid tackles arent really that effective i feel as they player can drop their shoulder and charge.
