Recently I have been getting a bit of a pain and a pulling sensation in my heel, which may possibly be related to recent knee pain I had that has largely subsided.
A bit of history...
- Got new bike in June, with a different pedal system.
- First really noticed knee and heel pain a little towards end of Paris ride in July.
- The knee pain bothered me sporadically for a month after.
- Knee pain seems ok after taking it easy, strengthening exercises and taking Glucosamine Sulphate.
- On harder rides seem to notice heel pain like during 7oaks triathlon, the Presidents 10 and a ride the day after (no problem with knees during tri).
I have some suspicions on the cause of the heel pain:
- New bike isn't set up right.
- Cleats need adjusting.
- I need inserts for my cycling shoes (found out I have fallen arches according to the guy in the running shop).
Anyone experienced or heard of similar problems that can steer me in the right direction? Or maybe give the bike/shoes a sanity check on Sat (they look ok to me)? Maybe it's the way I ride?
I am off to the Docs anyway on Monday but I don't think its going to be much help.
