Greenwich foot tunnel

Is it okay to take your bike through this? Can you cycle it? Do the lifts work? Am I going to get mugged?

Just looked at wikipedia. Can take cycles thought it but can't be ridden whilst in the tunnel. Is it very busy? I'm intrigued. Does anybody use it as part of there commute?

You can take bikes in the lifts. You can't cycle in the tunnel itself, but plenty of people wheel their bikes through.

I don't use it myself, but a few of my cyclist colleagues do and speak highly of the experience.

i've used it very occasionally

the lifts tend to be broken so get used to carrying your bike up and down the stairs (i always use MTB SPDs but this might be annoying in roadie shoes) if you just miss a lift this is also faster than waiting for the next one.

the lifts, when working, are manned.

everyone "scooters" their bike through (you know, on one pedal) and jumps off if there's anyone who looks official around
