Lights for the winter commute

Postby Mike I » Tue Sep 25, 2007 1:34 pm

Not only was it very wet yesterday, it was dark until mid-morning. So, time to think about lights. I came across this extraordinary gizmo. Should I get one, or shall I just ride a Christmas tree to work?

Looks tailor-made for getting less confident / newbie cyclists into heaps of trouble by;

1) encouraging them into pressing buttons to operate the indicators instead of concentrating on the road.

2) moving out into traffic once they've got their indicator on, without first checking over their shoulder that it's safe to do so.

3) placing the onus on cyclists to indicate their intentions (rather than cars to avoid them)

I used to have a lightset that included a brakelight (running a sensor from the back brake) and iindicators, but I could never remember to switch the damn things on :cry:
