SCCU Lunch and Stuff in da news

Postby Snoop Doug » Wed Sep 26, 2007 8:52 pm

Hi all

This has been mentioned in the results section before but....the SCCU annual lunch is on Nov 4th. ACC will collect the Rawson Shield for being bloody great!! Tamar gets Womens Individual - very well done. And......there's more....Team ACC wins in the form of Rob Royle Evatt, Tamar and 44x18, shiver me timbers. We're also the only club to have three placings in the mens BAR - Rob, 44x18 and yours truly  . Tickets are £18 a head and the food choices sound good. It would be great to see a good turn out from the many folk who've contributed throughout the year. PM me if you want more details on this.

Also - I'm going to do a short piece on this and the TT season in general for the local press. Before doing so - I have a question for all you participants this year. Can you please drop me a note with info on all your PBs recorded this year? It's been a good one so I reckon there's lots. Also - a question for Jon...this spoco comp you do - when does it finish? If it is quite soon I'm tempted to hold off and add that in too.

Hope to hear from y'all soon

Cheers - ScoopSnoop

Hey Snoop, modesty has obviously prevented you mentioning that you aren't propping up the men's BAR table as you were expecting, but are one rung up on the ladder to glory. Onwards and upwards!

I have a few updates to do on the ACC results spreadsheet, then I'll send you the file, probably be at the weekend. That has most PBs noted.

Spoco SE goes on into October, but my final event will be this Sunday. Not done as well this year and will be outside the top 12, so no medal

Cheers Jon - be good to get that file from you - no rush mind. Modesty didn't prevent me mate, an error on behalf of SCCU did  . They've got my 25 time wrong   . So I am where I expected to be - propping up the table 8) . No matter I'm really pleased to be in it as I can still feel the mental pain from the 100. Now - I'd better not be propping it up next year. Bad luck on missing out on your spokely dokely :(

Praise be to Jon Hemming 8) for tis thanks to him that I now have all the TT information a budding journo could want.

I will put together an article for local rag and usual web sites summing up our fantastic TT season. As well as storming the ramparts in the SCCU we've seen club records fall and a rash of PBs through the season

All jolly good - quick question - anyone else planning to attend the SCCU lunch on Nov 4th? I have a pass out but I don't want to be the only ACC there

Keith and I will be at the lunch. Can't wait to read your article.

I made Keith polish the Rawson Shield up good and proper ready for return to its rightful place.

heh heh

And when Keith's finished polishing the Rawson Shield, he can get cracking on the BAR team trophy :D .

Sorry I can't help bring home the booty - family stuff.

Good news! The distant American cousins-in-law aren't going to be around on Sunday 4th after all. And I got a letter from SCCU yesterday with a complimentary ticket ("Dear Winner, Since you are a winner of the Team BAR and we like winners, here's an invitation for winners..."). Who'd have thought it? It just goes to show what you can achieve simply by getting up at 4am three times a year. Anyhow, I shall be joining the ACC posse after all.

It would just happen to be on the same day as my wife's birthday - I know we went up the Palace on our 25th Wedding Anniversary, but that was pushing it a bit and .....birthday......I know, take her out for a romantic lunch .....with 60 other likeminded people......I think not

So sorry, will not be there in person, but will be in spirit.

BTW Snoop, I did get a PB for my 12 hour up to 237miles from 228, and got my 2nd BBAR Certificate for over 22mph for 50,100 and 12 hours (the last one was in 1994) :D :D :D

Congrats to all, bring home the Rawson Shield :D (I suffered terribly on that hilly 25!!)

[quote="mrpvt"]BTW Snoop, I did get a PB for my 12 hour up to 237miles from 228,

There was a British woman in one of Chris' books last night who'd done 273 on what looked like a basic '80s style bike 8)

Sylv, that was almost certainly Beryl Burton, who still holds the women's competition record of 277.25 miles set in 1967 (when the men's record was 276.52 miles).
