Splendid! That news has just saved me £500 or so on new wheels. And it would have saved me the cost of CW, but I'll have to get it for the 100-up report anyway :lol: .

[quote="huw williams"]Fastest Tub - Reynolds DV UL

Lightweights only managed third needing an extra 11 watts of power to get them up to speed (48kmph)

Fastest Clincher - Campag Neutron

That's all I'm saying - read the test tomorrow and let the arguments begin :-)

Reynolds = £1500
Campag Neutron = £450

It will be interesting to see the difference in performance.....£1000 is a lotta dosh !!

Wonder what the best shimano friendly clincher is then......

sorry, i don't really trust dura ace wheels after i learnt that T-Mobile broke all their dura ace wheels before the Tour de France, and their replacements during it.

New Dura Ace look the business. Particularly the ones with the carbon / alloy mixed low profile rims.....

They are still £600 though...

I heard they weren't really Dura_Ace, but branded as such to keep Shimano happy. Could have been Eastons or Zipps.

I heard that as well, but Burghardt was using proper dura ace apparently

they were Lightweights actually (bar Marcus's)

I have now read the article fully, I've gotta say, I 100% agree with what they say about Zipps. I can't speak for any of the other wheelsets. But the evaluation of the Zipps is spot on. So, no arguments from me on the matter. For once :wink:

I suspect that (as a pro) Cav has little or no choice about what he rides on. He rides what he gets paid to ride.

For political reasons we never really give anything 10 cos it leaves you with nowhere to go - I mean, if you gave a bike 10/10 then next year you rode a bike that just had that certain 'something' unquantifiably 'better' about it, what could you do? Turn it up to 11 like Spinal Tap?

But didn't bother putting anything from Corima, HED, Rolf, Shimano, or Xentis in the test. :wink:

Some companies just don't want to play

Afraid of the truth perhaps?

"We're doing a BIG wheel test, do you want to send us a pair of X wheels."

Answer A: "Blimey thats a load of free publicity, how many pairs do you want?"

Answer B: "F*** **f, I'm not risking the likelihood that our wheels get beaten by a pair that costs half the price"

You get the picture? :-o
