Bet Easton wished they'd gone for answer B now. :wink:

I was hoping to see Planet X in there as their 50s look superb value. The people I've spoken to with them at TTs etc have seemed very happy with the way they perform so it would have been nice to see how an independant viewed them. After all if you've just spent Â£550 on some wheels you aren't going to tell everyone they're crap.

A really good article. Delighted to see the best clincher is also excellent price. Well actually I'd have been really delighted if that accolade had gone to the Roval FusÃ©e :oops:

The Reynolds also came tops of an online test (roadbikereview I think) and would've been my choice if I'd had an unlimited budget for racing tubs.

Read the article now and it still doesn't answer my question of what accounts for such huge price differences in deep section carbon wheels.

Planet X not tested but cost Â£550 so could be similar (or even same as, but under a different branding) as the Control Tech Â£600 - they scored 8/10 and praised.

Easton - Â£1,250 = 6/10, broken spokes peeling stickers.

Zipp 404 - Â£1,250 (or Â£950 AC) = 9/10

Difference in tests between Zipps and Control Tech seem minimal, for all Zipps fancy talk of dimples (just because it works on a golf ball doesn't mean it works on a wheel). Okay 300g lighter but the speed test seemed to show no difference that any of us would notice if we were on the bike.

Judging from Adam's experience and what I've seen on other cracked rim issues with the Zipps, reliability doeasn't seem to cover the difference.

Not knocking any of the wheels, just can't understand why twice the price

Huw, why where no handbuilt combo's tested?

I would like to know how handbuilt wheels compare scientifically compared to the fancy factory types.

Also, could a similar test be applied to frames?
