Hollingbourne Hill Climb Results

Another solid but unspectacular result from last weekend. I felt as though I rode this hill slightly better than Leith Hill the day before (i.e. a more consistent rhythm). I'd hoped to do a 3:25 - although a bit of a headwind ruled that out.

A quick bit of maths shows that on Leith Hill I lost an average of 5.1secs per minute over Ben Pochee and Peter Tadros. On Hollingbourne that had dropped to 3.7secs per minute. It's comfortably my slowest time for a several years on Hollingbourne - but at least things are moving in the right direction!

Fantastic ride Tony. Unspectacular 6th . I don't know the hill but looking at the time gaps it seems a tricky one.

If I get back from IOW in time you'll be getting a huge cheer on White Hill.

Any chance you could let us know which hill climbs you're doing? Not around this or next weekend but might be able to take some in mid-ride and offer some support.

I can see your point about being a fairly long way from the winner, but there were also a lot of people behind you Tony! I don't know how good your previous results used to be (very I assume). And if you can feel there's still a bit of speed to come into your legs I wouldn't be too suprised by a podium of a win anytime soon ... (just drop the overshoes please ).

Thanks for the encouraging responses.

Not the greatest photo of me....a few enhancements to my appearance could be required before I race again. Unfortunately, my colour co-ordinated ACC track mits, jersey and shorts have not yet been replaced after my crash last year. Hence the retro ACC jersey...

Next races for me are the Catford and Bec on Sunday 21st. I believe we have a handful of ACCers riding the Bec event (if not both), which is great. Neither happens to be my favourite hill - they are both effectively short, sharp, power-climbs. Strong RRers such as Sigma Sport's Gary Dodd have always excelled on them in the past. Assuming the field is as strong in each event as for the past few years, getting in top 20 will be difficult enough......

You never know mind - with a bit of luck there's always a chance we could win the team prize on the Bec event.
