a little less speedy than PDA's 4 seasons but still a fast rolling tyre with really good puncture resistance.

Mine have lasted me a year but after my puncture on the clubrun i think i shall have to invest in a new pair soon.

Those Spesh Armadillo's Marco wants you to use will never clear your forks!!!!! Especially with double thickness tyres!!!

So it seems as though lots of people like the Conti GP 4 Seasons or Gator Skins, including me. Further to my earlier post I have used both and was very happy with them. In fact, I am running a GP 4 Seasons on the front of one of my bikes currently. Only had one puncture in a very long time....

Not sure if commuting demands are more or less harsh than wet Surrey Lanes - probably about the same, I'd guess....

After eight years of commuting I've come to the conclusion that frequent punctures have more to do with bad luck than the type of tires you use!

I ran 1.5" mtb slicks for a while but now am back to lightweight 1" and puncture no more.

I agree Slyv. But after only a week the Panaracers have a fair few cuts in them. So it seems soft compounds are good for grip but don't seem to repel those nasty little bits of stuff that might give you a puncture, a harder compound doesn't grip as well, but may be more puncture resistant and as I'm not expecting to be testing the outer limits of tyre traction on the commute I might just on stick on a pair of armmadillos even though they ride crap.
I'd say commuting needs a much tougher tyre than the one I would use on the CR, training. In almost 3 years riding the surrey and kent lanes with gator skins or conti 4 seasons I've only had about 3 punctures, but I suppose unlike commuting I dont ride them every day.

True yes, my comment was just a way of saying you might never get a puncture with a thin light tire if you are lucky. the 26" Hutchinsons are soft and do pick up more debris than the Contis I currently use. Which make them wear sooner too.

True enough, but a good test was a wet descent from the KingoftheMountains chalet to the main road at Bourg. I was only 35 seconds slower in the wet, than previous dry run, and never had a "moment" (well not quite, but that was my fault, not the tyres!!). The Contis do seem resistant to minor cuts.

well I've gone for the schwalbe marathon Plus MTB (26 x 2.0) on my commuting bike, 1100g per tyre! Great winter training, takes a bit to get up to full speed due to slower acceleration.

I find it really interesting that the majority of you seem to get on well with Contis. I have Conti tubs and they seem fine but I just cannot get on with Gatorskins. New pair on at the beginning of a 200k audax and had four punctures during that ride. Never put them on again.

Never mind these Armadillos and Gatorskins, get some Dugast silk track tubs on. The faster you go, the less time you spend riding over the rubbish, therefore less chance of puncturing.
