[quote="Robh"]The last 2 hairpins very very damp today and had leaves and made the last section sprinting to the finish not easy so decided to stay in the saddle than rather fall like Stu once did in damp conditions.

Anyway enough of the excuses i got my time down to 6mins 16 today.

The trusty powertap figures were :-

370 Watts NP 366 Average Watts
Min hr 122, Max hr 179, Av 164bpm
Weight 64kg
Fitness rider
not bad for a lightweight Rob! whats your 60minte threshold power these days?

Cool. given your weight thats very respectable. Looks like there's plenty of sustainable power headroom. The drop off from your 20min-60min power is notch over 5% is that fairly typical for most riders ya reckon?

I've not really given a real go at 1 hour but was based on my 2 x 20min intervals which were 280 W & 281W 3 weeks ago. AV hr was 160 & 164 BPM if I recall.

Like you say for my weight the cycling peaks power profile chart table is showing my power for 1min & 5mins just dipping into low Cat 1 category (based on American category (Elite to Cat 5) and my 1hr estimate dipping into low Cat 2.

I managed a 304 and a 312 in Mondays 2 x 20 episode but I'm a chunky 76 kilos now rather than my normal skinny race weight of 70kg

  Apparently Snoop lycra can hide all sorts of sins...Rob, do you mix vo2 max workouts (5 x 5's) and threshold work outs (2 x 20's)equally?. I quite like the way you can nudge up your VO2 max power by doing purely 2 x20's. Obviously at some point you'll stop seeing gains with 2 x 20's. I don't plan on doing and 5x/5's for ages yet so it will be interesting to see when sustainable power begins to plateau.

For the first half of the year i did SST rides of 1.5hrs. Then in mid June did Vo2 intervals (5 x 5mins on a 5% incline) on a Tuesday and 2 x 20mins on a Thursday.

Nice job! that puts you in 2nd spot on TBHC. If you can join the 300 watt threshold club you'll kick serious butt next year and should make 2nd cat if you race samrt
