Girl's training group challenge - large talk?

Postby huw williams » Thu Oct 18, 2007 12:19 pm

"Have any girls been in the training group?" Michelle asked last night.

"I've often cried like one in there" I said "but no I don't think so"

George confirmed that he'd never seen one in there either so Michelle came up with the idea of a challenge - first ACC woman to get as far as Rusper with the training group.

A quick straw poll of all the women riders in the club present threw up some interesting opinions (largely based i suspect on the varying lengths of time they'd already spent in Beer Circus)

Amy - Blank look
Maria - "Oh yeah I'll do that no problem"
Tamar - "F*** **ff I'm not doing that"
Michelle (who had the idea in the first place) "Don't you go sticking that on the forum like it was my idea."

Michelle's (who's idea it was) husband Keith is now upping his winter training in fear of Michelle (who came up with the idea) storming past him next spring

The challenge is set - watch this space :-)

I think someone must have spiked my drink, 'cos when I said that I'd only been at the BC half an hour !!

I think that same person did so during a conversation about this weekend's hill climbs too...... Higg ??

First of all, thanks for that Huw.

It was your idea to put the challenge of 1st woman ever into the training group.

I was just verbalising an internal thought as to whether it would be physically possible for me to ever get into the training group (and stick there).

So this challenge is nothing to do with me. You cyclists are competitive barstewards......

Anyway on the presumption that the best male cyclist in the club would feasibly get sh*t on by a pro woman, I thought the proposition was not an impossible one. I reckon that I might contemplate joining the back of the TG in about a year.

Gotta hit the 20's first!

I would also like to point out that Keith and I are spending 9 weeks off the bikes in Feb and March 2008, so this is not a good start to the cycling year ( fab one for the skiing year though  )

Thanks to Stu for his 'concession' but that aint the point!

[quote]Could Michelle be the best thing to happen to the training group since Stu started shaving?

Rest easy boys, you've got plenty of time before you have to scrub up and smell sweet!

Michelle- on your next club run why dont you pull out of coulsdon south with the training group and just see how far you can stick it out?...you may make it till rusper.... if you get dropped just wait for the group behind..

Michelle, I will push you down the hill as long as you push me up. If you can keep up with Keith then you are probably already ready. I just got back from a training ride with the animal and he was flying.

I have had a relatively hard week although did miss riding hard at the weekend as was in slow training mode, but tonight I was having real difficulty holding his wheel.

Next week can you tell him to bring his training bike, and do me a favour let his tyres down and fill his frame up with water when he is not looking.

Cheers

Marek....

Thanks for looking after him Marek!

BTW it may surprise you to know that I cannot keep up with Keith...I reckon I need another 40% on what I already got.

Hmmm.

Still compared to how I was this time last year, if the growth is exponential, watch out!
