Online Bike/Bike Accessory/Bike Clothing Shops

Which sites does everyone use for their cycling related online shopping?

At the moment the only sites I know are http://www.halfords.com and http://www.evanscycles.com

Recommendations appreciated.

I'm especially looking for clothing at the moment as will need some winter gear for commuting.

It's mostly mountainbike related, but http://www.chainreactioncycles.com are good, cheap and fast. Delivery is (usually) next day.

I've also used http://www.wiggle.co.uk who are usually pretty good, but there were allegations last year of credit card fraud associated with their payment network. I haven't used them for about a year so can't comment on whether they have sorted any such alleged problems out.

Third option - buy from your local bike shop. Perhaps a bit more expensive, but will a website fix your bike for you when it is broken and you don't have the right tools?

I use Parker-International and ProBike Kit quite a bit as well. Re the Wiggle, I did have a credit card clone which may or may not have been got from them. I think someone hacked in to their database to get the details, all covered by the credit card company anyway so didn't lose out. Also having been stung like that I would think they would have tightened up security and may be better than others, just a thought. The dhb stuff at Wiggle is good though and excellent value.

Thanks for the tips now. I just grabbed a Hi-Viz jacket and some extra lights from Evans near my office, but I'll be shopping for under-layers and leisure gear too.

Parker-international, chainreactioncycles are both good for discounted stuff. I use them mostly for consumables ie tyres, mechs, cables etc and some clothing. However for the trickier and I guess more value-added items where advice is needed eg headsets, maybe even a new bike, I would always use a local shop, Nirvana for my mtb and GB Cycles for the road machine. Reason being that if we stop going to them they'll go out of business and we'll have nowhere to go for advice and service

In case you don't already know, you can get 10% off Evans' prices by showing either an LCC or CTC membership card

Doing that generally means that their prices become competitive with online retailers

You only need to buy a few things at a discount to get back the money you will have spend on CTC/LCC membership, and of course an additional advantage of membership is the 3rd party insurance

I'm getting much more into the high vis thing now (having bought my first yellow top earlier in the week). It seems quite common to see commuters wearing high vis jackets, but I'm not keen on wearing a jacket unless it's actually raining (cos even with goretex you tend to get too hot). So I'm going for high-vis tops, and will probably pick up one of these excellent Gore Phantom tops at lunchtime which should see me through the winter months.

thanks for reminding me about the LCC discount Will. have already bought a hi viz jacket already, but have a couple of things i need, so will more than likely join LCC

i've also ordered some of those Nike base layers from Pearsons. they've got a 2 for £35 deal going.
