[quote="mrP(Boonen)VT"]Forgot to add - thanks to Sylv for tearing up the ride home - he obviously didn't try hard enough,
Oh Paul I did, like everyone said it wasn't an easy race by anny accounts. A couple times I really thought I'd lost it after a turn at the front into the wind or chasing attempt left me at the back of the bunch struggling to keep up, and on the last lap I put in more effort than in a long time - first half of the lap I gave it all to try and catch the break with Richard at the back which was only about 20 meters ahead, but I hadn't realised I was on my own doing this, until I turned back half-way through the back straight as no-one was coming through to take a turn, and saw the others a good 50 meters behind.
I had messed it up, was in limbo-land and knew I'd never catch the break, but would also probably be caught by the chasers. I decided to ease up a bit to give me a chance to hang on to them when they'd come past, and when Hal came through I immediately took his wheel into the last turn, and onto the climb. I was out of the saddle catching my breath while Hal was beginning to struggle a bit, thought it'd be rude to pip him just before the line so moved up half-way up the climb, at which point I saw De Ver guy (not sure who it was?) from the corner of my eye slowly catching up.
The last few meters were a good sprint which can be seen in Dennis' pictures 106 and 107 - if I crossed the line first it was only by a few inches.
I really enjoyed it though and am now all fired up for the winter series. I think I will also have to eventually do some structured training if I want to be able to follow the ACC 2nd cats next season!
Good to hear some of the first-time racers have caught the bug.
