Your 2008 Cycling Goals Please!!

Postby Toks » Mon Oct 29, 2007 9:40 am

Here we go then. No wishy washy "I'd love to do a sportiv" or "enter a race". Thats rubbish make them quantifiable - here are mine

1. Make 2nd Cat again :D
2. Beat 23min in a 10tt on my road bike
3. Ensure anyone I coach makes their goals
4. Win at palace again
5. FT 320 by summer

1) SE SPOCO
2) SCCU BAR
3) 10 PB
4) 25 PB
5) 50 PB
6) 100 PB

Enough initials for you :D .
SE SPOCO = South East Sporting Courses TT series.
SCCU BAR = Southern Counties Cycling Union Best All Rounder - 10, 25, 50, 100 mile TTs.
5 & 6 = Guaranteed if I do 2 as I've never done a 50 or 100.

Will try and get to Palace as much as possible but no targets as I just like racing there.

Thought this was another thread about football.

My last years goals were a bit ambitious and the closest I got was the 12 hour (a PB with 237 miles - just 3 short), but with a dismal 100, and no seemingly easy days for 50 (2.2  /100 4.32  ) TT's didn't go well.

I just managed to qualify for a BBAR Certificate :D :D :D at 22.085 mph.

I want to get under 2 hours again for a 50, and I reckon I can push my pb 100 close (4:10), along with that carrot of 240+ in the 12.

To make it interesting, I aim to ride the National Championships at 10,25,50,100 and 12 hours and make them my qualifying rides for the BBAR, and push the average up to 23mph.

I will also ride as many SCCU events as possible to help keep the Rawson Shield where it belongs (and get a few miles in  ).

I will be targetting a few more road races this year to improve on the measely 8 points I got this 8), and be doing the Thursday evening handicaps - target = 39.

And in my spare time, I'll put in a few long club rides.

Andrew mentioned Palace - it really is a football thread :?

Come on then......let's 'ave it.

1 - PB in a 10 (again)
2 - PB in a 25 (again)
3 - PB in a 50 (again)
4 - PB in a 100 (again)
5 - SCCU BAR (again)
6 - PB in a 12hr
7 - Equal my PB of helping/marshalling at least four events (again)
8 - PB on the Bec CC Hill Climb (Again! Have I learnt nothing this year?)
9 - Keep the Yellow, Black & White flying over The Rawson Shield (team effort y'all)

He he, truth be told numbers 3,4,5 & 8 were all 1st time events for me this year so improvement on those is a MUST.

3. Break 2 hours for 50 miles
4. Complete my first 12 hours with 240 miles.

1. To train
2. To stop being lazy
3. To improve my climbing (more)
4. Go back to descending the way I was before my crash (dare devil style  )
5. To get into the 20 mph by the end of 2008 (sorry Stu, training group a tad optimistic)

1 Lose a stone and a half or so

2 Have another summer of mountainbike guiding fun in Colorado (actually, this one's pretty much arranged already :D )

3 Have a go with the 20s club run.

4 If 3 doesn't kill me, set off from Coulsden with the training group and see if I can last to at least the bottom of the steps.

5 Last to at least the 1st Prime in the Addiscombe A race that I expect to be forced (kicking and screaming) into next year.

6 Keep up with the front group on the church climb after leading the club run along the flat back from the cafe.

7 (And above all) continue to enjoy my cycling.
