Imperial Winter Series 2007/2008 - Hillingdon

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Nice one Sean, good to see the 2/3s get their own race now...

Does anyone know when the cut off is for scoring points for '07 and then '08?

Bit confusing, looks like you might race with the E/1s but score points seperately.

Adam, I think all the winter series counts towards 2008, even the races in December. I think that's what happened in previous years. So if you're looking for those last few points to get 2nd cat this year those races are no good. But looking at it the other way, you can get a headstart for 2008.

Don't bank on it. It depends on how many turn up

Hmmmm, im just thinking about getting some in early.

I have been told that riding with E/1s is much less difficult in Dec/Jan as they are a lot lower in form than the rest of the year. Anyone have any experience of this?

There's also the Ottershaw series of three races in November for anyone chasing points. Even though they are classified as E123 - the fitness levels tend to be dropping off at this time of the year plus the fields aren't always that strong. They are by no means chipper races - but anyone with a big engine and some racing experience should normally get round OK and may manage to pinch a few points in the sprint finish. They are not my cup of tea - I need to dress up like the Michelin Man simply to keep warm at this time of the year - but worth considering if you're fit.

Yea, thanks stu, just checked the BCF website, only one MOD race listed and its tomorrow, but just back from Japan so not feeling the best with jet lag etc and as you say " if I don't crash" I don't think my wife would have too much sympathy for me if I went and crashed there again. The ottershaw races sound better might look into that, thanks Tony,

Keiran, Even if you start at zero again in Dec, a few Hillingdon races and you could be 3rd before Christmas. Just train for the mile effort with a sprint at the end.

It's so easy I feel a bit of a fraud to be 3rd compared to those 4ths who managed to get points from palace during the summer. I raced 4 times in Hillingdon in Jan/Feb and got eight points, I raced 4 times in Palace in the summer but never finished.

Starting as I mean to go on I'll be doing some of these. Poss late Dec definately Jan and Feb. Just checked the calender, seems strange to have them on a Monday? Or is the calender I bought from the pound shop not too acurate!

They are on Saturdays, Paul, not Mondays. So means missing out on the club run if you are going to do them. Really enjoyed the course for the ACC Road race so thinking of riding over and making some of these myself.
only problem is riding back again afterwards as i think i'd be spent by then. I was a the ACC RR. Luckily Grahame had a space in his car and I got a lift back but everyone else rode back ok.

BTW where were you for the RR you missed a great days riding!
