you're confused. What you deserve is compensation for the actual amount of damage sustained. What you're attempting to obtain is as much money as possible within the current legal framework due to 'pain and suffering' and so on. It's these sort of borderline claims that have caused all our insurance premiums to skyrocket in recent years.
With full no claims bonus my car costs £700/yr to insure. The cheapest insurance I could find for my bike is around £250/yr. If I wanted something more like a car policy it would be double that. If you call that cheap then (a) you're earning far more than me which deserves some sort of congratulations given your tender years and (b) you don't really need to milk an insurance company for an extra £1400 more than the actual damage sustained.
As for people who can't drive it would be nice to see the police taking them off the roads but unfortunately these days they seem to be too busy processing speed camera fines to worry about minor things like bad driving.

the only catch I have with my situation seeing as I just contacted various people, weighed up the pros and cons and then did as they asked when they asked and trusted them and have come out very satisfied is this....besides the scary lack of punctuation........
because the Police were not on the scene of the accident - they were not particularly interested when I reported it as I wasn't mortally wounded -
The driver has now basically admitted fault to the legal authorities of our country
'yes' - they ran me down and offered no help and then hid
'yes' - they are a danger on ther roads
well that driver's insurance company pays me money and the driver's premium increases
but they recieve no 'points on their license', there is no legal come back so to speak - what is the negative outcome of their action??
nor is the accident a statistic contributing to road safety.
hows that for informative ramble.

its clear and true. I won and the costs are paid for independantly directly to bikeline by the 'bad people' (yeah its a legal term). If I had lost then I would pay for some or all. But from the start they told me they would take my case as they were very confident that I would win. It's too costly to lose. I also took out an insurance against loss which cost £400, this they inform me will be returned to me in the coming months as the legal costs are paid at a later date.
All in all I am a very happy chap.
And Wales played brilliantly last weekend.
