Saturday 10 Nov Suggestion

Well, in the spirit of Winter training anyone interested in doing the following ride.

Starting at CSS normal time going out to Merstham then going over to Smallfield and then towards Copthorne, Turners Hill. Over to Sharpthorne, descend down to Weirwood Reservoir then over to Ashdown Forest. Up the Wall then into Edenbridge up Crockham into Westerham and then a cup of tea. Then ride up to Warlingham and descend down to Purley.

I will go all the way to Westerham and then peel off to EG. The pace will be Winter training group pace. Therefore about 20mph on the flats and about 25mph on the hills. Will wait for stragglers, as that is usually me.

Cheers

Actually, you don't go all the way to Warlingham, but you go up the long drag out of Westerham which takes you just South of Warlingham, then you can take the 2nd left at the mini roundabout which takes you along a back road which takes you past a golf course and then it descends down past Woldingham I think, train station on a really tight corner and then this brings you out onto the A22 roundabout which you can then follow the A22 into Purley. Does that make sense?

Nope, starting normal time at CSS, I will ride up from EG so as to get a warm up and get in my extra hour so that I can beat you in next years ACC road race.

Cheers

obviously your not one (stu not marek)

I normally take croham park road thorugh selsdon and past the sainsburys. Then up Farleigh Road. And then after the golf course there take a left and then go around there.

You slacker - if it was a proper training ride you'd turn right after that tight corner and add in Bug hill (or 'the bugger' as we call it) or better still go right round the A22 roundabout and go up Succumbs

Well, that was good fun. I enjoyed most of it until we hit the Wall, and I think I almost did as well.

Stopped off at a slightly earlier Cafe than originally intended in Hartfield, Pooh Corner. Did a good cappucino and tea cake.

I think there were about 8 of us in the group Paul H, Stu, Hal, Keith, Graham and 2 guys from Gemini. Jon Hemming was with us early on but we somehow lost him between Smallfield and Turners Hill I think.

Pace was pretty hard on the hills but reasonable on the flats. Graham and I were struggling on our winter bikes, with the others all on their Carbon Fibre jobs and Hal on his new Specialized.

One of the younger guys from Gemini was quite amusing as he would attack at the bottom of every hill as if he was going to kill us all, then he would blow up half way and we would all cycle past him. It was quite funny as he seemed to do it on every hill.

A few classic things happened in todays ride, firstly I managed to get up a couple of the hills first, and secondly Stu managed to do his normal trick of losing it and going head first into a bush. He was fine, just his new Campag top got ripped.

Hope you all got back from Edenbridge ok.

Cheers

Cheers Mark,

Got back OK at 13.15 or so. I think I did reasonably weel on the down hills, OK on the flats and pretty abismal up the hills. I split from the main group just after edenbridge to take a more direct route home.

Guess I need to do some more of this type of ride. I'll be up for it in the future...

Thanks all for a good days riding....

Ta Ta,

Graham.
