[quote="Kasper the Ghost"]Anyone planning on using or used Eurostar to get to the continent with their bike?
Not as a bike, but as a large piece of luggage, in other words it was in a bike bag.
No problems at all, you just put the bike bag with the other luggage at the end of the carriage but partly in the corridor. You just have to lurk about when people are getting on or off so that you can move your bag out the way for them and then tuck it up hard against the other bags afterwards.
I'd recommend using trains for European travel if you can get there in one day, or have an overnight stop somewhere else. The overnighter is a bit too cramped and the bike bag can be more of an issue depending on the guard. They may insist you take it in your couchette which makes it very crowded.
Trains tend to go south out of Paris from Gare de Lyon which means getting you , your luggage, and bike across Paris from Gare du Nord, which can be a pain, but Sylv suggested looking at getting your train south from Lyon and getting off the Eurostar earlier might fix this problem.
