What a typical blunder by British planners no provision for bike parking.
If the government wants us to cut down on air travel then train travel to Europe is what this new station is all about, then they go and forget about bike parking. Typical huh,?

Anyone planning on using or used Eurostar to get to the continent with their bike?

Who would want to leave there bike locked up in St. Pancras International for a long weekend while their in Paris etc. anyway?

It does look pretty nice in there though... the longest Champagne bar in Europe, how the hell would you ride home again!!?? :lol:

sometimes if you tell them that you have got a bike, then you get a free reservation.

Thats what happened to me. Albeit I was travelling from Kings Cross-Edinburgh.

And I had it in a bike bag

In theory Mo you should tell Eurostar etc that you are taking a bike / outsize luggage as there is a luggage van on the back of some trains. This will narrow down when you can travel though.

If you just get on and play the innocent, but considerate fool you'll be fine. i.e. just say you didn't know and nobody told you when you mentioned it whilst booking, and keep the bag out the way as much as possible. It's probably more difficult in this country as there is less space for luggage on the trains we have.

Thanks Andrew that was a really informative and helpful read. Given something to think about now. Your description of the overnight trains really wasn't that glowing was it? Lots in the papers at the mo about the new station opening up rail travel to Europe. Definately looks like a Greener Option.

I've had a few flyers from Rail Europe and there are now some new trains (even quicker) and some good prices available all through Europe.

Does anyone know much about the InterRail (?) tickets you used to be able to get...

I.e like Â£200 for the ticket but then unlimited rail travel around europe for a month or so??

This is something I would like to do before im old and tied down with children or a wife etc... and yes, I would be leaving my bike at home...

How much, where do I get info from on the tickets / where I can go with it etc. I'd rather not take a tent, so what about hostels etc? What time of year to go? Can you get a two week ticket...

Tell me about places you went and where was cool. How much cash do you need...
