which yellow tyres?

I am a relative newcomer to road bikes so haven't used a lot, and am currently using a pair of Conti Grand Prix 3000s which replaced some other cheaper Contis.

Anyway they seem to grip well in the wet, but they are wearing pretty fast and has a lot of cuts in, any recommendations for something a bit longer-lasting? (I think part of the wear problem has been caused by underinflation, but now I've got a floor pump)

Must be folding, and yellow to maintain my reputation for being to colour coordinate!!

I've used Vredestein Fortezza Tricomps for a long time. Mine are red because my bike's red, but I think they're probably available in yellow too. Some of the Michelin Axial range are also available in yellow/black.

your best bet is to go for the heaviest duty looking tyres for winter. butlers have some yellow out the back.they are thick, heavy and will slow you down.perfect


when the summer comes, or races, change over to michelin.theyre light, thin and make you go faster...they'll only last for 1000 miles roughly though before punctures start setting in( usually 1 puncture to every 3 rides)

this is from own personal experience of tyres, im sure they differ to everyone depending on how you ride.

ive ridden nearly 2000 miles on my set of michelin pro race tyres ( yellow and black) only had 2 punctures. ( did over 2000 miles on previous set as well with just 2 punctures)
very nice grip, i ride them through winter and only slipped on the really slimey grimey stuff. never slipped out of control though. can highly recommend them.

Done lots of commuting miles on the road bike on continental dura skins -They're kevlar re-inforced for more puncture resistance.
It works, even if they're probably a bit heavier than race tyres.

They've just brought out a folding version (why do they have to be folding by the way? please excuse my ignorance) and come in black with yellow logos .. almost what you want.

folding allows you to carry a spare in your rear pocket, unlike teh classic tour de france days when tyres didnt fold and they carried them across their chest!

they are also

a) lighter
b) easier to get on and off rims
c) easier to store if you have a few sets
d) far more expensive

As Jon has previously said, you need Vredestein Fortezza Tricomps. They do do yellow as that is exactly what I've had on my bike for the past 3 years - not the same pair though! For folding tyres they're not too expensive; around £15 each from various mail order outlets. Regarding wear, I seem to get through two pairs each year.

Finally they roll really well when inflated up to 9.5 bar.
