Saturday 10 Nov Suggestion

A Place to idle the day away talking about anything you fancy. Expect to find cycling and non cycling topics inside

i loved that ride and i had buckets of energy until the last hill going up to chauldon a few miles from home. the reason for this was my special carbo loading yesterday... all you can eat chinese for £4 :P :P :P :D

i felt really good on the wall. its not as hard or long as i remembered it and i got the victory to the top with about 100m on paul H.

the crash was a bit anoying. i kissed hals lovely new wheels and then to stop myself crashing infront of everyone i headed up a small bank into a bush that broke around me, absrobing all the force leaving me un scathed... by the looks of my jersey i missed a sharp bit of bush by a few cm

after the Tea stop we headed back and one by one people peeled off leaving paul the gemini guy and myself to make the trip back to coulsdon.

its funny when you run out of energy to burn as it seams to happen to fast...we were climbing hill top hill, (the one that goes up to chauldon) and then suddenly i had nothing left to burn and i slowed right down :( , giving paul his only hill victory of the day  ...thankfully it was at the end of the ride so i made it back home without completely bonking.

got back with 62 miles on the clock and an average of 19mph...pretty good considering the hilly terrain.

look forward to more of mareks hilly rides.

cheers
stu

[quote="Marek"]Pace was pretty hard on the hills but reasonable on the flats.

That's funny, I don't seem to recall any flats before Edenbrigde, it seemed to be all up or down. Marek did seem to find every hill in the area.

A bruising headwind on the way home though.

Like Stu & Graham say, thanks Marek and looking forward to the next hilly one.

Okay, I have an idea about what we can do next week. Will post up a suggestion thread again with different date.

Cheers

[quote="Marek"]Jon Hemming was with us early on but we somehow lost him between Smallfield and Turners Hill I think.

Despite Huw's warning at CSS of "You know it's going to be fast, look who's in the group" I started out on Marek's Magical Mystery Tour. The pace was a bit too tasty for me, and I got dropped going up a drag somewhere around Copthorne, so headed off through Lingfield and Edenbridge, over Crockham Hill to Westerham, up Clarks Lane to the top of Titsey then down through the lanes and home.

I hate to say I told you so, but...

You gotta look into the eyes of these boys Jon - deep in that realm of Pluto you'll find a twisted truth quite different to what's coming out of their mouths. So when Marek says "we're not going THAT fast" or "we'll wait at the top" you'll get to realise that HE'S LYING LIKE A RUG ON THE FLOOR!!!

They can't ride 'not THAT fast'.... the 'not THAT fast' gears have been removed from their bikes

Sorry about that Jon, you should have shouted we would have waited for you. You were looking quite comfortable in the group when I saw you, but when we reached the top of the hill in Turners Hill we wondered where you had gone. Suppose we should have looked around a few more times to check everyone was ok, we will do that next week, look me in the eye and I will tell you that.

Maybe ACC can invest in radio links for each group so that we can talk to each other. That would be cool, if you were getting dropped you could tune into the lead rider and tell him to slow his butt down. Maybe a suggestion for the next committee meeting, that along with getting the road from the top of Box Hill resurfaced.

Cheers

I have no problems at all with being dropped by the nutters group (oops, sorry, "training" group), so no apology needed. I was fully expecting to be dropped anyway, as I've not done much at all since the end of September.
