Croydon 10k run April

Marco, what is the exact date for this? I'm gonna use it as an incentive to get me back to running (which i just did - where's the big freeze btw?).

Who else will be doing it?

I am doing the Tunbridge Wells half marathon on the 15 February. I ran for the first time for a few months last night, I managed about 5km and almost collapsed after. Am now dreading the half marathon. If anyone else wants to come along and run a half marathon at a nice steady (slow) pace then you can enter on the runners world website.

It was brilliant fun last year, my first ever run, if not alway 'fun'. Im definitely doing it this year and hope to bring my leisurely time down from around 53 minutes to under 50. The best part was all the local support, the mountain bikers waving on the sides, and the interesting variation of running alongside acc characters whom you normally ride your bike alongside. Marco hauled me up half way last year as I was flagging and blasted past me on the last 2km downhill section (using gravitational theory - champion downhiller strategy).

04.04.04 its in the goals diary for 2004. Marco - if I don't see during this year's race (Ill be sub 50), good luck!

ooops, that was a bit embarassing. When they said 17mph group at the front, I forgot I didn't have my bike with me. Gets your heart beat going though. Marco, I think I spy you at the back with a very leisurely style entry and a good view. Monty's advice was to find a nice derriere and then focus for the rest of the race. Hence, I decided to drop back after the hill. But then when I had a 12 year old, and a grandmother with a blue-rise and 'FUN' in big letters on her back, it became desperate. I entered on the line last year and it was very easy.

You may remember that earlier in the thread I said I would be doing it. Well, unfortunately I won't, but I do have a good excuse, I have enetered the Cambridge Duathlon on the same day 7K;35K;7K so wish me luck.

It is a great local race, so good luck to those doing it.

Cheers, Huw

I'm not chickening out as I will be running 14k as part of the Cambridge duathlon, as well. Sorry Super Ajay, our duel will have to wait till October.

Huw, you'll be fine. The bike is flat - don't know about fast though, as it's pretty exposed and windy - the run is a doddle though.

Hmmm. Shrouded in secrecy. However, I did some one-legged workouts during an all night club crawl for my cousins birthday on Saturday night. Plan to do my first run this week, as my fitness is actually going backwards this year. Hope your hobble has healed!

"£6 for members of clubs and affiliated to uk Olympics - £7 for others" says the entry form - does Acc qualify for being a club, albeit not a running one?

It's actually a 20 mile race, but I'm just going to jog round as a training run and see how far I get.

Sadly, I won't be able to stop off for dinner - alright, well I will stop off for a High Five gel and some water if that counts !

Lovely track suit Marco !
