Race Coaching (with Prime coaching)

Postby JayneToyne » Mon Mar 01, 2004 2:04 pm

Just a reminder for this coming 2 weekends, barring no snow or blizzards of course...
TWO consecutive weekends of race coaching and training,
6th and 13th MARCH
meet at 10am at the Horne golf course carpark for several laps of a fast open road circuit, working on breakaways and bridging gaps, sprinting and a bit of a race at the end to join all the training together... be warned, this will be HARD work but very good fun.

the more of you who turn up the better it is for everyone else.

any questions, fire them at me: miss.moneypenny@ukgateway.net

pass the invitation on to anyone you may think would benefit/enjoy this, they dont have to be with Addiscombe to join in as this is a Prime coaching event.

Maybe I should already know this but what's "Prime" ?

Also is there a fee for the training ?

good question,
I am a member of a group of coaches, called Prime coaching, you will often see the Prime jersey out and about, its a nasty hideous pink colour with black on it as well. Prime are also running a session at newport this sunday ( i will be racing and coaching women there as well)

As yet there is NO FEE for the race coaching over the next 2 weekends.

I was thinking of putting a pot on the top of my car for voluntary contributions on the day to put towards the cost of making all the signs as so far its all come out of my own pocket.

I hope plenty of people will turn up to make it a really successful morning.

Sadly this clashes with Hillingdon (this w/e) and WCRA h'cap in Milton Keynes (next w/e) so I won't be able to make either. Hope they go well though.

It was a brilliant session down at Horne on saturday, riders from several different clubs turned up for the first of two coaching sessions on the Horne Circuit.
They all finished with glowing faces ( i tried to work them pretty hard) and praise for the hard work setting the session up.
Hopefully more ACC riders can make it down there this coming saturday morning and join in with the fun/pain/pleasure....

thanks to Aodan for turning out for the session, he was one of only two people I knew on the day so I was relieved to see a familiar and friendly face. Brett also came along for a giggle and added a little something extra to the session. Thanks Brett.

lets see some more of you this saturday and see what you are made of...

Thank you for organising a great session Jayne.
I think all of the people who turned up learn't something new.

All of the excercises you had us doing were fun and informative, hopefully more people take advantage of the next session this coming weekend.

I totally recommend it.

it finished around 12.30.. covered about 12-14 laps, i lost count in the end. ( 3 mile laps, roughly 8/9 minutes per lap)
starts at 10am.
some people rode there and some came in cars. theres plenty of parking space at the golf course car park, no one uses the far corner of the car park this time of year.

final reminder

Postby JayneToyne » Fri Mar 12, 2004 1:48 pm

just to remind anyone who thought about it before but chickened out...
its the 2nd horne race coaching session this saturday morning.
if you are going to be racing this year then this is for you.
If you normally head out with the club run and then do the chain gang down the dual carriageway.. why dont you just carry on going and come over to horne and add some spice to your saturday morning.

It starts at 10am, meeting at the Horne golf course entrance.

the weather may have been cold and snowey recently, but the met office has promises of 10-11 degrees and sunshine with occasional showers...
so in laymans terms, its going to be warm and moist...
which im sure is how a lot of you like it ;o)

hopefully see some of you there... oh, and bring your racing buddies too... you dont have to be a member of ACC to join in, just a cat 3/2/1 or confident 4th.

Weather permitting I'm coming to this - here's hoping I ride with a group and don't end up doing a time trial !

Is Horne where the Addiscombe do the Thursday handicap ?

a numpty..lol, nice word

anyway cats stands for category of rider.

theres
elite
first
second
third
fourth
womens
junious
a
b
c
d
e

imagine it like the premiership.those in teh elite group, e.g, taylor, winn, newton etc, theyre your uniteds and arsenals of cycling.

then you got 1 st cat.these guys are very good, just not quite elite standard, same for 2nd, and then 3rd..then you get fourth, this is pretty much teh cat which says beginner.a nice place to start, and an easy one to exit if you committed.

womens cat, pretty self explanatory, junior cat is for those under 18, and the a- e is basically a is 15 year olds, b 14 and so on..i think!

to move up at cat, you need to prove urself and earn points by doing well in a race

to jump 4 to 3rd, you need 6 points
3 to 2nd you need roughly 35 points
2 to 1st 100 points
1 to elite either 200 points ina season, or be basically told ur super by bcf and be appointed up there.

to retain your cat, in teh next season you need a certain amount of points or you go downa level...

go to the bcf website , alls explained in teh rankings section found on the left of the screen once youre inside the site.

hope all makes sense

sorry if i went on :D
