Thought my neck was healing fine when 10 days ago I went in for a scan to see how it was all going and felt confident they were gonna remove my neck brace.
The SHO doctor looked at my results informed me that there was still a crack that was not healing and surgery would defiantly be required and I would be called and informed when to come back for the operation.
I felt gutted and a bit depressed, I wasn't expecting this at all, oh well I thought if it needs to be done then lets get on with it.
Then last week I had the call to come into Hospital on Sunday afternoon for surgery today.
I arrived at hospital and they weren't expecting me, but fortunately had a bed free so I stayed in last night. I was scheduled in for Theatre this afternoon.
I awoke this morning and the nurse checked my blood pressure, but kept saying it wasn't working she couldn't read it because my HR was too low to be normal. She called in the sister who checked it manually and asked if I did and sports, once I answered she then confirmed it was correct and I was indeed abnormal at 36
Then an hour later my consultant/top man turned up and told me I did not require an operation, I could remove my neck brace, didn't need to wear it again, go home, get back to normal, start physio and start cycling and I would make a full recovery.
I was astounded and couldn't believe it, then he showed me my scans and X-rays explained everything to me and told me the SHO doctor was American and always overreacting.
What a result I'm well happy now, started Metis this afternoon, cheers Marco.
