Difficult one to give advice on as you could just go for something that looks cool but the fit may be completely wrong. I would go into the shop and try on a few pairs and see what feels best. Take advice, so go to a decent shop. I did not realise how important fit for the shoes was until I bought a pair that were slightly too big. The pain of a pair of cycling shoes that are slightly too big is intense, so I would just go for a good fit and something in either blinging white or silver.

Cheers

Marek....

Yeah depends on the shape of your feet. Some are way too narrow at the front for me. Specialized get my vote if they fit you. Very comfy, light (with the carbon sole), and the body geometry insoles are very good.

I have three pairs! (oldest is about 6 years old and I still use it daily - that's how solid they are - not to mention they fit like slippers).

The road ones I have I bought at Butlers (during their sale!), the sole is carbon

If you go for Specialized I would make sure with the person who sells them that their body geometry sole fits your foot and the way you walk/cycle (pronation/supination etc). But they are meant to be really good (the custom soles I just got done are quite similar for the arch support).

sidis

Postby Paul on the Pearson » Tue Dec 04, 2007 9:25 pm

I'm with Sylv on this one, you can't beat a nice pair of sidis especially in white and for those chillier days how about a nice pair of white sidi over socks? and while your at it dont forget to assesorize with some matching white bar tape to complete the look!
Sidis are quite a narrow fit. If you've got feet like a pair of bloated old kippers they may be a bit tight so try something like northwaves.

i got sidis too this summer from brixton cycles, ended up paying out more than planned but as a regular they gave me a big discount on a good pair of shoes. Very comfy and I've wide feet so surprised, much more snug than my old shimano ones.

The only choice!

B0!!0cks, as usual i'll throw one of my spanners in the works...

I had Sidi's for 3years, then fancied a change so got my current very bling white/silver DMTs (my Xmas present last year!). And oh my word, the difference is incredible. But I guess at the end of the day, shoe choice is a personal as saddle choice. Look at the pro's, I don't think any of them ever get forced to wear shoes from the teams shoe supplier, just like they re-cover saddles to look like the supplier its meant to come from!

I think the best course of action would be to try on as many as possible as suggested... Dauphins do DMTs, or if you fancy a trip to Sigma Sport in Kingston one day soon give us a shout and ill give you a lift. Sigma is definately the better shop. They also do Shimano shoes, which have now got some custom fit shoes that are under the £100 mark I think... They are also meant to be pretty good.

Bear in mind that Sidi's are very narrow shoes, so if you have broad feet, then they can be very uncomfortable, unless you get a size that's too big...and that has it's own set of problems: wide enough, but too long.

Anyway, you'll notice a lot of pro's wear these Shimano Shoes
