Graeme - very promising, the weight loss would give an extra dimension to the pics in the traditional before and after sense

but given your prowess on flat courses and ability as a sprinter already (plus the prestigious title of club champion already in the bag) would you be prepared to go the extra distance and target a big hilly sportive as well as some open road races?

Success of course could entail greater weight loss than the modest 10kg you're aiming for

Now that WOULD be a story of some inspiration

I'm sure I could fake being poor on flat courses (report of a struggle to hold on at a Hillingdon race, perhaps?). Nobody outside the club knows about the club championships win without honour  This is journalism, the truth is optional isn't it?

I'd be happy to target a big, hilly sportive later in the summer - what's the date on that dusty one in Italy? It would make a good comparison with me struggling round the HONC in April. If I got to 3rd Cat, I'd also be prepared to tackle a couple of open road races.

The weight loss target of 10kg is one I thought I'd find challenging but possible. I'd defer to the coach's view - if they thought more was achievable, then we'd target more.

I think Graham or Dombo would make perfect candidates. Toks is right Kieran is much too good on Huw's criteria, his race licence must be a fake to have that cat on it.

I haven't read the article yet, but let me tell you there was nothing average about Apples' performance on the Dragon Ride.

Sean, I gave him a lift there and back, and there was no sign of any excess baggage, cool boxes or even shoe boxes.

So cynical, and so young...

Huw, given Grahames past exploits he should be a sure bet for showing a big improvement as he's already showed the potential before.

Not me anyway, kind words Toks and Andrew but ignoring my 'cycling prowess', I'm too lax about training and commitments, for example no recent sportives for me as nowadays you have to book too far in advance to get in the nice ones and I can't plan that far ahead. I also impose self inflicted financial constraints on my hobby to stop me going spending mad, which would probably clash with it.

I don't care for your drug habit Apples I'm more alarmed that you own all the Harry Potter books.

They are children's books

Why is okay to read Harry Potter on the train, but if you got a copy of The Famous Five or Winnie the Pooh out people would look at you oddly?

Also the average waist size is 38", fat b'stards!

I used to be a right fat b'stard I had a waist size of 42 when I was 18 years old and rode a Kawasaki ZXR to Box hill and ate loads of RYKAS tripple burgers and chips with large chocolate milkshakes.
