Who do you insure your bikes with?

Cheapest way is to add them to house contents insurance. You have to check exactly what cover you get for this as some insurers are pretty stingy about the cover offered but with a decent policy you can get similar cover to that offered by specialist bike policies for a fraction of the cost.

Main drawback is if you do claim it can effect any discount you get on your house insurance for not making claims.

I now have mine insured through the Household goods policy with Marks and Spencer (no, really). After calling about a thousand insurers who all said "What?" when I asked about covering bikes worth more than about 25p each, I called these very nice people. They said that they'll cover any item up to £4000 without it having to be listed. I specifically asked about bikes and they said they would be covered, even on holiday, and visitors' bikes are covered in your home as well.
Price was competitive with less understanding insurers' quotes as well.
Plus, if you say Grahame Baker from Bromley recommended them to you, I get a £10 voucher, which is nice, and will delay laundry by a few days.

best people to insure your bikes with is the people the british cycling site recommend.no website, but got the file on email if anyones interested.

the insurers im going to go with cover your bike for racing, not just time trial as some do, and cover it for racing world wide if you want.

ive got a £4000 bike, insuring it withing the m25 boundary for £3500 uk and europe racing coverage will cost me £402, then im insuring my track bike for £500 for an extra £64....all very expensive, but worth it, some of these races get hairy..

you can insure for just leisure aswell,

if you insure your biek as a triathlete, alls alto cheaper, a biek covered for£3500 id only like £250!
