[quote="Col"]It's not that simple it's totally different the safety inside a car compared to the vulnerability of a cyclist, the key factor is safety to all roads users and if cars observed speed limits and waited to overtake safely the hundreds of people they kill every year would be reduced, the main danger caused by cyclists is to themselves very very rarely to other roads users unlike cars.
Totally agree!
In sliding through a red light, am I actually causing danger to anyone??? I wouldn't block the path of a pedestrian if they had right of way, and I wouldn't put myself in the way of traffic that had the right of way either.
Attitudes on red lights and cyclists in this country are way too black and white. When I rode with Liquigas (fair enough they took more risks than I would), they paid respect to cars and pedestrians but where safe carried on through. They do 50,000kms per year, its their job, do you think they'd really want to get knocked off?
