Oversock Sean. Good for spring and autumn as they serve the purpose of covering the air holes in the shoes to keep the bit of wind out, and keep your shoes nice and clean from all the crap on the road :D .

Just checking :wink: .

Don't know why they don't come pre-cut with the edges bound, the merkalon ones from Prendas do and they are great VFM.

They won't keep your feet any drier or warmer sean trust me! They do look cooler though, but its gotta be the addidas ones, wear them on top of the over socks, works well.

Also, remember, one small straight line of an inscision is all you need with them, and let the heel wear through naturally!

Just ordered some Pro Tarmac overshoes and some Sealskinz socks in the hope I can keep my feet warm and dry. If that doesn't work then I think I will get some of those electric feet warmers.
I hate cold bl**dy feet. :(

I have some of the Pro Tarmac overshoes. They're great at keeping your feet warm...not so great at keeping the rain out, saying that the only test Ive given them was in last saturdays down pour which I doubt anyone went home with dry feet.

Has anyone tried neoprene socks rather than overshoes? I already use Seal Skinz but find they aren't elastic enough and water pours in around my skinny ankles.

I think ultimately the question is not how to keep your feet dry, as when it rains enough, that just isn't going to happen without staying indoors in the first place.

The question is how to keep them warm. And the age old principle of layering has nevr been more key. I did 3hrs 40mins in the rain last sunday, and yeah, my feet got wet. But one pair of normal socks, plus two pairs of overshoes, meant my feet were relatively warm. My biggest issue personally is hands.

Just ask Chris and Lisa, after descending Box Hill on Sunday I then made them wait while I changed gloves! As the woolen DeFeet ones just weren't cutting it. So on went the windproof Nike jobbies, and it was indeed, job done. But never fear, had they gotten soaked through I did have the failsafe Seal Skins waterproof gloves as a third and final weopon against the cold and wet British winter.

One word of caution on gloves however, don't buy Assos gloves, they're pretty much the only thing they can't do! Well, they're ok in the dry, but how often is it just cold and dry in our wonderful climate???

[quote="marco"]big fluffy socks
winter boots 1 size too big
neoprene overshoes 3 sizes too big
mtb night rides where the hoses on peoples camel backs froze up meant we had to come up with a way of keeping cold no matter what happened

OK I heard you the first time. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
