A Place to idle the day away talking about anything you fancy. Expect to find cycling and non cycling topics inside

DOM, yes i can do something similar for non/lesser experienced racers, it all depends on if people want to do it. if there was a group for example that wanted to come down this saturday, they would be welcome but kept seperate from the experienced racers. ( for safety more than anything)
Im happy to put the time into coaching if people want to do it.
chances are as soon as the evenings become lighter i will put on a coaching session once a month or so through May/June/July.. ( i have to fit this around my own racing calendar though so its likely to be a tuesday evening)

The categories 4/3/2/1 and elite are BCF rankings, so based on previous years successes you score points... more points means a higher category. Everyone starts at Cat4, so when you get your first licence it will be 4th cat... you can be a 4th cat and never have raced before.... you dont need a huge amount of points to move to 3rd cat, once you get a 3rd cat you dont move back down to 4th cat regardless if you score no more points. its worth trying to become 2nd cat because you get to ride in much better races. 3/4 cat races can be a bit of a lottery sometimes due to the large difference in experience and ability... which includes bike handling skills between a just starting out 4th cat and an experienced 3rd cat.

Maria, the circuit is the same one as used for thursday evening handicaps, there is a map on the londoncyclesport.com website on the main page under Horne Prime coaching.

hope this answers a few questions.

Sorry, can't make tomorrow; going to give Alfold a bash on Sunday so will need a more relaxing day.
All the best for the coaching session.

Jayne please count me in for a beginner session(not this sat though).

Elliot, the MTB lot all know I do tris and they all know I have a road bike, they also know I ride my Bullit like a mongle and crash loads (just look at the vids!) So tell them what you like! :D. (mind you none of it makes me feel better about owning an all in one lycra tri suit  )

If you mean mongol please avoid outdated, inaccurate and derogatory terms.

Thanks to all those who turned out for the race coaching session this saturday morning in what looked like very dodgy weather...
thankfully it stayed dry through out the whole session... with the exception of the moment where I had to collect all the signs in... and then the heavens well and truly opened.

Ive had very good feedback from both saturday sessions, with just about everyone asking for more... the only ones who didnt speak much at the end were busy trying not to be sick after finishing the training race...

Im considering running more sessions through the spring and summer when time permits, or alternatively on request from a group of riders/friends who want to spice up one of their mornings/evenings out training.

As it happened on saturday I had 2 groups of riders of vastly different skill levels, one doing the race training, the other doing basic group skills.

SO all in all, its been a very worthwhile and enjoyable 2 sessions...
more to come, so watch this space.
