Speed Judging Saturday 22nd

Postby mrP(Boonen)VT » Thu Dec 20, 2007 10:15 am

Many years ago, we used to run these events as something a bit different to spice up the clubrun and we had one last year, and I thought it's about time we did another.

It is a simple formula - just turn up at the Cafe at Charlwood with your bike, pay £2 entry fee (for a bit of prize money) and ride round the circuit to be revealed, only a couple of miles without any watches or computers etc and I will time you, then do it again and the rider closest to his/her time for both laps is the winner. First rider off at 10:30am.

IT IS NOT A RACE.

Stu won it last year

Good stuff, I shall try and nick the money off Stu this time out (I think I was 2nd or 3rd - won some money anyway :D).

Paul D was about 40mins off his estimated time last year as he got lost and ended up riding miles. He was not alone though as I remember 3 people managed to get lost on the 1st left, 1st left, 1st left loop    .

10.30 start might be a bit optimistic Paul, we've got to ride out there first. This was good fun though so it would be good to get a decent number give it a go.

It would spread out the cafe queue nicely as well if some of us go round before tea etc. I don't mind going off early Paul, I can then have my tea and bacon sarnie while trying to put others off so they don't beat me  .

Fixis not allowed

Otherwise would be too easy to work out your cadence and number of pedal revolutions in your head.

I will be on fixed, but if you think I can work that out and keep count on the way round you're really over estimating me.

Last year there was a small hill on it so it would be tricky to work it out anyway.

Isn't it also traditional to have a daft hat competition on the last clubrun before xmas?

Don't you do that when you ride time trials every week Jon?

I thought I'd get set up and be ready to send riders off in plenty of time.

Someone might take pity on me and bring out a cup of tea and a bacon sarnie

I think you're right Paul, the silliest hat I own is certainly the pointy thing.
