Team Sport & Publicity, Hillingdon, 14th March (3rd cats

Typical - Sun shining all the way over to Hillingdon. Got there looking forward to first race then during the warm-up the clouds rolled in, the temperature dropped like a stone and just as we lined up, the rain started. It kept raining off and on for the whole race which on Hillingdon's sweeping bends is not much fun in a pack of 70 riders. (70 3rd cats, in March???). And it was freezing!

Treated this as a training race so as the pack was going along at a speed somewhat slower than the ACC novices club run, I tried to get into every break or chase down every one that I missed. Certainly made the race a lot harder. Got in a good spot for the sprint when two guys in front came down hard, ended up sideways accross the track and forced a lot of us up onto the grass. Still recovered for a top twenty so not too disspleased in the conditions.

Hey Huy, Well done on getting through your first race (hope you're not too badly damaged). Its definitely a risky business this bike racing lark. I though the third cats would no better. My first visit to Hilllingdon this year will be next month so I hope I can stay upright for the whole race!

P.S. Are you doing the official tour of the surrey hills ride later this year again? Having been inspired by your great 4th postion last year I'm gonna try and get a top 15th place this year. sh1t that means hill reps!!.I'm tempted by Big Migs Wednesday night in the hill workout but it would probably kill me.

Cheers Toks

Expect so, ToSH is one of the best rides of the year. Probably do an ACC version again quite soon too to show people the route. Let you know.
