I've heard climbing in a big gear is good for power too. Obree used to train for TTs and the hour record by when he got to a hill on his ride sticking it in the biggest gear and staying in the saddle all the time. Helped his ability to push a big gear for prolonged periods.

What do you mean spinning like crazy. If I am going up Box Hill and in my smallest gear, I am generally going so slow I nearly fall off. :shock:

Hmm, think it would be backwards motion if I tried it in the biggest gear.

Sigh. Methinks I have a long way to go........
