Wednesday chaingang from Butlers & Coulsdon

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

No Gavin...keep at it.
Even staying 500m with George is an achievement !
Next week you might stay 750 m and then the week after 1km.
Pretty soon you'll be with them for the whole route.
don't give up!!

[quote="Gavin"]Thats not very encouraging Toks!

I'll just stay in then.
Sorry mate  If you got dropped because they were attacking - fair enough give it another go. However if you got dropped when they were cruising @ or near race pace then its really not worth your while going until you can increase you sustainable power. I mean each to their own but it can't be much fun hanging on to a chain gang for less than two minutes on a cold winter night...See the Sweet Spot thread :D

PS.. Don't listen to Colin he'd try to turn the whole affair into some kind of Big Brother training experiment

mate, don't listen to Dr Toks.
Sure, he means well, but he'll have you strapped to a turbo every night sweating away in your spare bedroom looking at wattage numbers and you'll spend most of the day analysing the results worrying about your FTP, your MAP, your MSP, V02 ,MLSS and everything else that has a 3 or 4 letter acronym.
Keep it real Gavin! The road is where it's at!

Hey Toks when are you going to make your comeback to the club run?

Or is it too early in the year for you? (or too far to get there?)

Cool :)

My legs felt wooden today, so I think I will opt for a good ol' clubrun.

Am incredible 13 out tonight. Very fast I didn't last long well 10m more than last week! and on the way back Stu, George and 2 others were going along at 27mph as they came past me.

that was a monster fast chaingang. the worst thing is that george came out on his time trial bike. i was killing myself staying on his wheel, and it was even worse after a turn on the front if he was the next one on the front as he was just caining it away.

i felt strong though and happy to draw the short straw of bieng behind george, and it seamed as though all the rest of us were too (marcus from norward paragon and paul h). so we had a good strong bunch.

brilliant training, and a good turn out. i hope it lasts!

I think they were doing the same speed leaving coulsdon, certainly too hot for me. I got dropped around Merstham which is never good but by Redhill I was joined by another two which made a viable group.

Btw, where does the route go once you get out to gatwick? When we got to the 2nd roundabout we turned straight back because we didn't know which way the main group had gone. We probably turned about 10mins early which meant we were back in Cousldon before the main group had a chance to catch us (so at least we only got dropped once).

Enjoyable evening last night.

Not sure the strongest rider in the club should coming out with a TT bike on a throgh and off session when everbody else is using training bikes was a good idea though.
