Eddie Mundy RIP.

A Place to idle the day away talking about anything you fancy. Expect to find cycling and non cycling topics inside

One of the things I love about cycling is it's history, reading about the past exploits of the stars etc but wouldn't it be great to be able to read about the past exploits of ACC members like Eddie and his generation. Would it be possible to add a past achievements and history section to the website, I must admit when I go to other cycling club websites I always check to see if they talk about their history. It would be good if we could get the people who were there at the time to write it themselves or talk to one of the club members? Just a thought.

Kieran, and others, I've put a post about Eddie on the Digest tribute page to him. His long distance racing in the 1950s, and his sterling work for the Road Records Association are as worthy of deep respect as was his enthusiasm for and great positive contribution to the ACC club life.

I was very saddened to hear about Eddie's passing. It was quite a shock to hear what happened on Wednesday night.

I remember Eddie as a jovial old guy with a young spirit, who always liked a joke with the "young'uns" in the club. He always had time to talk to me, and he had lots of funny stories to tell - especially about his cycling days.
And even at his age he would still get out in his old Marina and help at the club events - especially with the teas for the time trials.

I'm sorry that you've gone - I like to think you're in a happy a place, and you're showing the angels a thing or two about riding a bike !

Bye Eddie, it's a pleasure to have known you.

With the passing of a National Champion and Record Holder it is not just the Addiscombe that that has lost one of our greatest riders it is the sports loss as well. Trully a sporting icon with the most engaging personality and a wonderfull sense of fun.

Eddie, it has been such an honour to know you Sir.

Is there any news yet on when and where the funeral will be? I am sure there will be a big cycling fraternity turnout.

No date yet. I've heard slightly conflicting information so far.

Hopefully we'll hear definitive version soon.

so sorry to hear this all the way in oz. I remember staying at his house before races, a 12hr in particular in which we helped John smith and Stan Harvey. He was always friendly and genorous to me. Gary.
