What do you most look forward to about Spring riding?

The fact that soon I will be able to ride for as long as I want, when I want and where I want.

Is your weight an issue for you? Do you want to be lighter and why? What are you doing to make that happen?

Cycling can be used to control weight. I used to weigh nearer 12 stone. Now I weigh just under 10, and it makes the hills a lot easier :D

What makes a great cycle route? Is it quiet roads, great scenery, hills or the absence of them? What does it for you?

Good company; not getting dropped or having to wait for others to catch you up - ie similar riding abilities; small country lanes; a few hills for the competition.....and a long straight road bit with a tailwind for that extra excitement! Wahoooooooooooooo! Whoop whoop!

What's your favourite quick pre-ride snack?

Organic jumbo oats with cold milk and raisins. Scrummy.

Where do you shop? High street, supermarket or farm shop?

Supermarket - mostly organic and mostly veg and fruit with a bit of brown rice/ pasta thrown in.

Have you ever done a spinning class? Was it any good? Can it help bike riders?

Yes. Spinning can be really tough and motivating, once the endorphins kick in and everyone in the class is on the same wavelength. I will use it on my 9 week break from cycling to keep the aerobic fitness level up.

Evening rides in daylight, wearing shorts and short sleeve jerseys again.

Would like to be a super lightweight but I don't think it's going to happen.

A great view, no cars and I'm partial to long shadows and warm weather.

What's your favourite quick pre-ride snack?
Marmite on toast and a filter coffee or big bowl of no added sugar Alpen and a tea

Where do you shop? High street, supermarket or farm shop?
Food's from the supermarket almost everything else I buy online.

What do you most look forward to about Spring riding?

The (likely) increase in temperature and no more ice.

Is your weight an issue for you? Do you want to be lighter and why? What are you doing to make that happen?

If I was lighter, somebody would get done for neglect. Maybe improve muscular strength, so I'll probably be adjusting my diet, and reviewing my training programme for it (if I had one)

What makes a great cycle route? Is it quiet roads, great scenery, hills or the absence of them? What does it for you?

NO POTHOLES. Hmmm...and no gravel, and no places where I might end up on a windscreen, scenery's nice, but I shouldn't be going slow enough to appreciate it! Hills are only nice if theres a descent on the other side. False flats are just annoying.

What's your favourite quick pre-ride snack?

A pizza, nah actually it tends to be something a tad healthy, any fruit I can lay my hands on.

Where do you shop? High street, supermarket or farm shop?

Ebay and the rest of the internet.

The Questions

What do you most look forward to about Spring riding?
Riding in shorts and short sleeves again

Is your weight an issue for you? Do you want to be lighter and why? What are you doing to make that happen?
Slightly - bulked up a bit at the end of last season. Will lose a few kilos before racing.

What makes a great cycle route? Is it quiet roads, great scenery, hills or the absence of them? What does it for you?
The Alps are just the best (especially DOWNhill). A nice route to Brighton in the lanes is great, even Ditchling can be enjoyed!!.

What's your favourite quick pre-ride snack?
Organic oats porridge with a bit of treacle.

Where do you shop? High street, supermarket or farm shop?
I'm with Snoop here, grow some own veg - potatoes, beans and peas. Otherwise, organic as much as possible and locally produced veg from Waitrose.

Have you ever done a spinning class? Was it any good? Can it help bike riders?
No. I saw one once and it was as Tamar described, and I thought it wasn't for me. I do use rollers (NOT a turbo) and pretty much spin my legs off as there is very little resistance, at home.
