Well..I am at home now with legs like lead....

Good ride today. Met up with Mat and Ed and left with our group. Ufortunately, our group couldn't keep up. We were left with Ed, Mat, myself some well handy track rider, and a bloke who new the way.

Anyhow, Mat, Ed and the Track Bloke were ridig well and made mincemeat of the wind which was pretty strong at times. We did well until we got to Godstone. At this point, I started to relax as I knew the route would probably go down Pilgrims Way with a tailwind. Imaging my horror when we startup to climb up to the ridge. Some nasty fellar somewhere is having a right laugh somewhere tonight.

All told, we reached the end in approx 3.20 minutes. This may seem fast but I think we missed a few turns along the way and lost 2 or 3 miles..

Anyhow - Cheers chaps. See you for the Catford ride next week. I'll be riding up again...Its gona be chaos. 400 Riders trying to park, sign in and get going in sleepy halstead......

Ed - Hope you got to the end OK. The group was going for it a bit when you dropped of the pace.....

Been out with the kids this afternoon and doing the shopping. They're safely fast asleep (well maybe) so I've just sneaked onto my computer.

Really good cycling today. Apart from the wind and missing two check points everything was going well.......until we reached Flower Lane and it all went very quiet. Seemed to cause all of us alot of bother as I looked back we were strung out down the hill, I was out of the saddle moving side to side around the 8mph mark :-(

We reached the checkpoint at the top of Flower and regrouped then over the next few miles I could feel myself slowly drifting away from the group of five. Whenever there was a slight incline I was struggling. When the gap formed I thought I'd have an opportunity on a descent but it didn't come quick enough so ended riding into the wind on my own. I'd run out of water so stopped off at a petrol garage.

Once I saw a road sign for Bromley at Knockholt I decided to head home rather than do the remaining 7-8 miles back to Horton Kirby. Probably managed 70 miles so not the end of the world and much better prepared for next Sunday.

Sounds like you had fun. Sorry I couldn't make it. I woke up at five past nine. Just not Hard Core enough! :D

We got out for a ride about 10.30. Loads of cyclist about. Incredibly windy - 55 kph with the wind behind us and not even trying!

Hopefully I'll get along next week. Let me know what you're doing.

thanks

Jon :D
