Well, I actually turned up in time this week and kept Mark (McC) company for some of the ride to CSS. Monty then asked us to take 2 19mph groups out but only enough volunteered for one so me and mark did the same group. It kept together very nicely (with Kasper shooting off the front sometimes - a bit of sprint training?). After Reigate some TG stragglers joined us and the pace went up a bit. me and Mark decided that we'd stick to the pace we'd being keeping but everyone else sped up to keep eith the exTG guys so me and Mark had no option but to up the pace. We had a good work out with Ray doing a lot of work (didn't feel guilty as I'd done a fair bit as well) and on the last hill before the dual carriage way I went off the front and kept away. We regrouped prior to the DC (having lost one or two) and then did a fairly good through and off (bad luck with cars at the roundabouts). The pace was kept high all the way to the cafe. A big queue so I got a drink and bar from the shop and headed home alone via boxhill. Good and tired by the time I got there.

[quote]I was late at CSS so not sure from Marek's post whether Wal was part of it today

Yep, I'm the Michael that Marek referred to in his post.

A fantastic January day and a spanking new bike meant that I just had to beg some leave from Dad duties and go for the club run.

A thoroughly enjoyable morning's cycling! This was my first club road ride since the summer, most of my spare time in recent months having been consumed with the business of caring for a very small person, who arrived in my household in September. I'd expected my fitness to have suffered somewhat since then so I was well chuffed not to have been spat out the back of the training group. In fact I felt pretty good, although attempting to chase down Marek et al along the dual carriageway left me with nothing for the sprint into Charlwood so I coasted in with George, who graciously spared me the indignity of being dropped on the run to the cafe.

Hope to make it out for a few more club rides over the coming weeks.
