Hillingdon 26th Jan

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Well done Michelle - glad to see you're really getting into it. Try and keep your form while you're away and that should put you in good stead for the 3W/4W races at Chertsey and the Thruxton circuit races too. You'd definitely move up at these races.(They usually have about 5 or 6 of each of these per season.)

And now for the tell it like it really is bit that will give you a clear idea of what you're aiming for : :?
As for the other women's races I'd say the work is only just beginning !! Whatever you do with the 4th cat men at Hillingdon you'll have to do at least twice as much once you're up against the E12 women and the juniors/olympic development squad lot who will have just returned from their umpteenth trip to Belgium with Bryan Taylor. These will be your competitors in most other women's races.(Note that most of them will not show themselves in a road race until at least March, and when they do they'll be on fire !)

Anyway, keep up the good work, and catch you next week over a mulled wine.

Maria

Thanks everyone. Makes such a difference to have what feels like the whole of Addiscombe rooting for you.

Maria, thanks for the info, I think I will take things one step at a time! Still feel decidedly cheeky for daring to 'play' with the boys, and having the chutzpah to go to the front too! Soflty softly catchee monkey :D .

Was nice to see it wasn't just me that saw the panic in the eyes of the fellas as I took the front. Keith K concurrs too!

Keith - your write up and assessment of what was going on is so good. I can barely remember which corner I farted on let alone who did what where and who that person was that was in the breakaway. Sounds like you were kicking yourself a bit (in more ways than one). Still there is a long way to go before the fat lady sings. As my Keith says though, if you don't commit you don't win. All that knackering leg work must be good for something, even if it just better fitness in the end?!

My thoughts and wishes go with you for the rest of the winter season.

Well done Michelle.

I dont understand why the BCF doesnt have races within races. i.e. 1st female, 1st 2nd Cat, 1st 3rd Cat etc.

I may be wrong but i think in the E123's 2nd and 3rds get seperate placings. In fact one person I know has already racked up a third of all the points he needs to make 1st cat

Im assuming you mean Phil, I knew he was placing well, but not that well! Fair play to him. He's been as strong as both times I've been there so im sure he'll cope just fine with promotion...
