It was a very fitting ceremony. Moving and humbling. Crikey he sure crammed a lot into a fantastic life - nice one Eddie. That swig o rum after was just what I needed afore a quick blast home on the velo.

Tada Eddie, will think of you in the 12h, sorry I missed the speeches but suddenly felt like I was getting an appendicitis crisis - better now, thanks to Rich for the lift back.

Yikes I hope you're okay Sylv.

Unfortunately I couldn't take the time off work, but I've spoken to my Dad and am delighted that Eddie got the send off he richly deserved.

He certainly did . And we learned a lot about the other side of Eddie from his Submariner colleagues. He was a quiet hero - at both the D-Day landing and the Italian campaign assaults, in a landing craft. There were a lot of bemedalled chests there to honour him.

Amid the proud Addiscombe cycling regiment on parade, I felt distinctly improperly dressed in dark suit and tie.

Farewell Eddie, you are remembered by so many.

I think Eddie (Edwin) had a fitting send-off, with a guard of honour from the Submariners, and the Agreeables. Bright yellow may not be considered a fitting colour for a funeral, but I am sure Eddie would have wanted it that way. We received lots of positive comments and some were even keen to photograph the "cyclists" (although Phil O'Connor was there without his camera!!)

It was a shame that the family did not arrange some sort of gathering afterwards - it was really cold satnding outside to talk.

A good ride home through the dense SE London traffic, overtaking those that went by car

RIP Eddie.
